Incoming Kinders

Step 1: Select Program

Kindergarten during the 2022-23 school year is for any child turning 5 years of age before 9/1/2021.

Students turning 5 years of age between the dates of 9/2/17-2/1/2017 qualify for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). This is the first year of a two year Kindergarten program.

Step 2: Apply online

LESD enrollment portal for the 2022-23 school year starts February 1st. All applications must be submitted electronically.

Step 3: Set up an appt

After submitting your online application, please set up an appointment with the school office manager to submit documents to complete enrollment. 

Items you will need to bring:

  • Child's birth certificate
  • Child's current Immunization record
  • Parent Identification
  • 2 Proofs of Residency
    • 1 must be a utility bill

Step 4: Getting Ready

We cannot wait to meet you and your future Smith student! Our school offers an array of services and programs. Learn more about our school by browsing our website. Also, take advantage of the summer time to work with your child to:

  • Say their first and last name
  • Write their name
  • Read/ sing songs
  • Take care of their basic needs on their own
  • Count to ten or beyond!

Second Step is a research based, social- emotional learning curriculum that nurtures children's social-emotional competence and foundational learning skills.

These are weekly lessons in the classroom led by a social work intern.

Students will learn the following strategies: emotion regulation, active listening skills and expressions of feelings.
